The Cork landscape is really changing with many developments underway and others at planning stage. Images include Penrose Dock, Navigation Square, Custom House Quay, 85 South Mall, Kent Station, 1 Albert Quay, The Metropole Hotel and new bridge from Merchants Quay, the redevelopment of Merchants Quay itself as well as the Wilton Shopping Centre development, the new hotel on Sullivan’s Quay and of course the Cork Events Centre. These multi billion euro developments include offices, hotels, apartments, retail and other mixes and are likely to see between 5,000 and 10,000 new jobs for Cork. The jewel in the crown of Cork is of course the potential that Cork Docklands has with a likely 25,000 housing unit potential and work space for 20,000 employees and up to eight new hotels and leisure facilities. The infrastructural development costs for Cork Docklands will have to be met by central government and all in all it is clear to see why Cork will be the fastest growing city in Ireland for the next twenty years. Let’s hope that any global financial crises does not impact these plans on this occasion #cork #penrosedock #customhousequay #businesscork #wilton @wiltonshoppingcentre @merchantsquayshopping #bambuilders #corkeventscentre
